Firefly Airline's Fokker F50

At last - a photograph of a Firefly Airline Fokker F50. Well done Gavin David for being first on the web to publish the photo. The photograph was taken in Kuala Lumpur, at Subang / Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (SZB / WMSA), on March the 29th 2007.

Firefly Airline's Fokker F50

Firefly Airlines
is a no-frills airliner (they call themselves a "community" airline) which commenced flights on the 2nd of April 2007. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines.

It's good to see that Firefly's Fokker F50 is displaying the airline's website url - fireflyz.com.my on its side - as its not obvious at all; one would have expected it to be www.firefly.com.my.

The Fokker F50, like other turboprops, is (probably unfairly ) judged by many potential passengers as being less safe than jets. The fact that a Fokker F50 was involved in Malaysia Airlines last fatal accident (1995, MG2133) has contributed to this reputation.
